lyrics

what is going on out here?
people crying out in vain every day
why’s it half to go on here?
people dying senselessly every day

when will we see some justice?
calling out to all to make a change
when will we end this prejudice?
indifference, equivalent to hate.

calling out to all to make a change.

how can we let this happen here?
we have to fight for a better way
if the rolls were reversed
the path would be clear,
so why can’t we treat
all humans the same?

you should say their names.
closing your eyes
won’t make it go away.
if you could be in those families,
if you could feel the way the feel,
you’d understand all hearts
break the same.
